Green

In producing kitchens of world-renowned quality, our suppliers are also pioneering all-green options to preserve the beauty of our natural environment. Our manufacturers use ecologically sound practices that help to leave a cleaner earth for future generations. Industrial and farming processes are environmentally sustainable with a minimal carbon footprint. In addition, cabinetry is produced using safe, clean solvents that do not contaminate air quality in the home.

Our European factories use care when sourcing wood for production. All trees harvested for cabinets and furniture are cultivated on special plantations, so there is no harming of protected habitats. These plantations are located in close proximity to the factories. Because felled wood is procured within only a few miles of the region, very little resources are used in transport.

Since we are committed to sustainability, we make sure that the forests are able to regenerate naturally. For example, the Leicht team replants three trees for each tree felled for manufacture. Another of our furniture partners, Team 7, collects leftover wood scraps and burns them in furnaces to heat offices, production facilities, drying chambers and board presses. Nearly all electricity used in their factories is from renewable energy sources.

The materials we use are engineered for safety and cleanliness within the home. Lacquers are water-based and extremely environmentally friendly. Instead of using polyurethane to protect furniture, surfaces are sealed with a non-toxic silk matt lacquer. Wooden boards also have a low resin content and contain no added formaldehyde. By designing furniture in a way that reduces chemical and particle emissions, we enable our clients breath cleaner, healthier air indoors.

Our manufacturers’ dedication to preserving the environment has been recognized by multiple awards granted year after year. Though not an exhaustive list, a few standout accolades we are very proud of include The Blue Angel Award for Nobilia, the EMAS Mark for Team 7, and the Healthy Living GS Safety Seal for Leicht. We hope to lead by example so that green furniture production becomes the global standard.

Modern environmental engineering is a big part of what makes our kitchens so innovative. At German Kitchen Center, clients can opt for all-green options so that they may renovate an entire kitchen in good conscience. We are doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as improve air quality and human health in the home.
